What is calico?
Percale is a high-quality fabric obtained through a dense structure of fine cotton threads.
Percale cotton is a high-quality fabric made of fine yarns with a dense structure. It is mainly used for sheets, colored or white. It is made with pure combed cotton threads; It is soft, fresh, natural, resistant and easy to maintain. It is obtained by working cotton with plain weave, using a technique that provides perfect perpendicularity between weft and warp.
In the case of percale products, the technical characteristics include the number of threads per square centimeter: the finer they are, the higher the number of threads used and, consequently, the quality. Percale cotton is in fact a woven fabric with a higher number of threads contained in 1 square centimeter compared to a normal fabric. As an indication we can find calico that ranges from 57 to 220 threads per square centimeter. On average, a classic fabric has around 25/30 threads per square cm.
